Giulia Slavic

Giulia obtained her B.S. in Electronics and Information Technologies Engineering in 2017 and her M.S. in Internet and Multimedia Engineering in 2020 at the University of Genova, Italy. She is currently a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Genova in the JD ICE program. Her research interests include autonomous vehicles, self-awareness, and the use of Deep Learning and signal processing algorithms for prediction and anomaly detection in sequential, multisensory data.

Additional Info

  • Project title: Emergent and incremental self-awareness in multi-sensor physical agents
  • Research project:

This Ph.D. project considers the problem of learning predictive models for autonomous vehicles endowed with different sensors, giving particular focus to camera data. Models will be learned incrementally through initialization of a base model, anomaly detection, and learning of a new model. Based on the learned models and on the observations from the sensors, the process of selecting the best actions for the autonomous vehicle to take will also be considered. Additionally, the fusion of models from different sensors will be tackled. A combination of methods from the fields of Deep Learning and signal processing will be adopted.
