Yue Gao (known as Frank) is a Reader in Antennas and Signal Processing, and Director of Whitespace Machine Communication (WMC) Lab in the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL). I worked as Research Assistant, Lecturer (Assistant Professor) and Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) at QMUL after my PhD degree obtained from QMUL in 2007. I am currently leading a team developing theoretical research into practice in the interdisciplinary area among smart antennas, signal processing, spectrum sharing and internet of things (IoT) applications. I have published over 140 peer-reviewed journal and conference papers, 2 patents, and 2 book chapters. I am an EPSRC Early Career Fellow (2018-2023) and a co-recipient of the EU Horizon Prize Award on Collaborative Spectrum Sharing in 2016, and have obtained the Research Performance Award from Faculty of Science and Engineering at QMUL in 2017. I am an Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, IEEE Wireless Communication Letter and China Communications. I have been served as Cognitive Radio Symposium Co-Chair of the IEEE GLOBECOM 2017, the Signal Processing for Communications Symposium Co-Chair for IEEE ICCC 2016, Publicity Co-Chair for IEEE GLOBECOM 2016, and General Chair of the IEEE WoWMoM and iWEM 2017. I am a Senior Member of IEEE, a Secretary of the IEEE Technical Committee on Cognitive Networks, and an IEEE Vehicular Technology Society Distinguished Lecturer.

Dr. Cuadrado is a senior lecturer (Associate Professor) in Networks in the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science of Queen Mary University of London. Before joining QMUL, he completed my PhD in Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. In 2010 he received a prize for the best PhD in telecommunications by the Spanish association of Telecommunication Engineers.

He is interested in understanding complex distributed systems (mostly Internet applications), and engineering them to work better. e.g. Cloud applications, with elastic (dynamic) changes, that are interconnected over a network. He is also looking at (Big) large-scale distributed systems that process massive amounts of Data.

Dr. Eliane L. Bodanese MSc, PhD, MIEEE, MIET joined the Electronic Engineering Department at Queen Mary in 2003. She is a senior lecturer and a member of the Networks Research Group. Dr Bodanese received her Electrical Engineering degree from the Federal University of Parana (Brazil) and her M.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (Brazil). In 2000, she received her Ph.D. in Electronic Engineering from Queen Mary, University of London (UK). Her doctorate work was a precursor in the use of intelligent software agents for resource management in wireless networks. This work received a prize award and lead to an EU IST project (SHUFFLE). She has performed research on middleware development for distributed systems, Quality of Service (QoS) provisioning in cellular and ad hoc networks, intelligent mechanisms for heterogeneous wireless environments and context aware sensor networks. She is a member of the Technical Committee of the International Academy, Research and Industry Association (IARIA) - ICDT conference, and reviewer of journals and many IEEE conferences.

Andrea Sciarrone was born in Livorno, Italy in 1984. He got his Bachelor Degree in Telecommunication Engineering at the University of Genoa in 2007 and the Master Degree Cum Laude in Telecommunication Engineering in 2009 in the same university with a thesis on Audio Signal Processing. In 2014 Andrea Sciarrone got the Ph. D. degree in Ambient Intelligence at Univerisity of Genoa with a thesis on Signal Processing Algorithms for Context-Aware applications over mobile platforms. He is currently Post-doc Research Fellow and member of the research staff of the Telecommunication Research Group and, in particular of the Digital Signal Processing (DSP) Laboratory at the University of Genoa. He is IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc) and IEEE Signal Processing (SPS) Societies member. He is the author of around 30 papers including journals, conferences proceedings. He is the recipient of the IEEE Cloudnet 2016 Best Paper Awards. His research concerns Signal Processing over Internet of Things, Context and Location Awareness and Safety and e-health Applications.

Paolo Gastaldo obtained the “Laurea” degree in Electronic Engineering and a PhD in Space Sciences and Engineering (2004), both from Genoa University, Italy. Since 2004 he is with the Department of Biophysical and Electronics Engineering of Genoa University, where he was the recipient of a research grant on Intelligent Systems for Visual Quality Estimation sponsored by Philips Research Labs - Eindhoven (NL) until 2008. Since 2011 he is covering the position of Researcher at Genoa University, where he teaches Electronic Instrumentation.
His main research area includes machine learning, computational intelligence, text mining, embedded systems for advanced signal interpretation in robotics, and cryptography.

Gabriele Moser received the Laurea (M.Sc. equivalent) degree in telecommunications engineering and the Ph.D. degree in space sciences and engineering from the University of Genoa, Genoa, Italy, in 2001 and 2005, respectively. Since 2014, he has been an Associate Professor of Telecommunications with the University of Genoa. His research activity is focused on pattern recognition and image processing methodologies for remote sensing and energy applications. He is author or co-author or more than 140 papers in international scientific journals, conference proceedings, and edited books. Since 2001, he has been cooperated with the Image Processing and Pattern Recognition for Remote Sensing (IPRS) Lab, University of Genoa. He has been the head of the RIOS Lab since 2013.
In 2004, he was a Visiting Student with the Institut National de Recherche en Informatique et en Automatique (INRIA), Sophia Antipolis, France, Ariana research team. In 2016, he was Visiting Professor at the Institut National Polytechnique de Toulouse, DYNAFOR Lab, France. He has been an External Collaborator at INRIA, Ayin research team, since 2012.
He has been an Area Editor of Pattern Recognition Letters (PRL) since 2015, and an Associate Editor of the IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Letters since 2008. He was an Associate Editor of PRL from 2011 to 2015, and a Guest Editor of the 2015 special issue of the IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Magazine.
He has been coordinating the Image Analysis and Data Fusion Technical Committee (IADF TC) of the IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society, as Chair from 2013 to 2015 and as Co-Chair since 2015. He was Publication Co-Chair and Theme Coordinator of all invited sessions of the 2015 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium. He was Technical Program Co-Chair of the IEEE/ISPRS "EarthVision 2015 - Looking from above: When Earth observation meets vision" workshop.
He received the Best Paper Award at the 2010 IEEE Workshop on Hyperspectral Image and Signal Processing. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE.

Igor Bisio got his “Laurea” degree at the University of Genoa, Italy in 2002. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in “Information and Communication Sciences” at the University of Genoa in 2006. His Ph.D. was funded by the Italian Consortium of Telecommunications (CNIT). He is currently Assistant Professor and member of the research staff of the Telecommunication Research Group and, in particular, of the Digital Signal Processing (DSP) and the Satellite Communications and Networking (SCNL) Laboratories at the University of Genoa. He is IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc) Member and since 2012 to 2016 he was the Chair of the IEEE ComSoc Satellite and Space Communications Technical Committee. He is also IEEE Aerospace and Electronic Systems, IEEE Computers and IEEE Signal Processing (SPS) Societies member. He served as Trasurer of the IEEE SPS Italian Chapter and is member of the Special Interest Group (SIG) about Internet of Things of the IEEE SPS. He is author of around 120 papers including journals, conferences and book chapters. He is recipient of several Awards. He is Associated Editor of the IEEE Internet of Things, IEEE Network, IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technologies, IEEE Access, Elsevier Digital Communications and Networks and Wiley Security and Privacy Journals. His research concerns Signal Processing over Internet of Things, Context and Location Awareness, Adaptive Coding, Safety and e-health Applications, Satellite Communication systems.

Andrea Trucco was born in Genoa, Italy, in 1970. He received the Laurea (M.Sc.) degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Genoa in June 1994 and the Ph.D. degree in Electronic Engineering and Computer Science from the Department of Biophysical and Electronic Engineering  (DIBE) of the same university in June 1998.

In 1999, he was appointed Assistant Professor at DIBE; in 2005 he was appointed Associate Professor. He is presently in charge of some courses (Electrical Communications, Array Signal Processing) in the signal processing and telecommunications field, cooperating with special emphasis in the M.Sc. Program in Multimedia Signal Processing and Telecommunication Networks. He is also in charge of some teaching activities about Underwater Acoustics and Seafloor Mapping Systems, in the context of a few Master courses jointly organized with the Italian Navy. 

He is the responsible for the research activities in the A3US (Acoustics, Antenna Arrays, and Underwater Signals) LAB of the Signal Processing and Telecommunications Group at DIBE. 
Since November 2008, he is Vice-Director of the Department of Biophysical and Electronic Engineering  (DIBE) of the University of Genoa. 
He is also Vice-Director of the Interuniversity Centre of Integrated Systems for the Marine Environment (ISME).

Prof. Trucco is the coordinator of the scientific activities related to several research projects funded by the European Commission, the Italian Space Agency (ASI), the National Research Council (CNR), other national agencies, and many important industrial companies. He has been appointed Inventor some international patents about ultrasound medical imaging.

He is an Associate Editor for the IEEE Journal of Oceanic Engineering and for the IEEE Transactions on Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics, and Frequency Control, he is a referee for important international journals, he serves on the scientific committee of several international conferences, and he was a Guest Editor of a special issue of the Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition journal. Prof. Trucco is author and co-author of about 60 papers on international scientific journals and many other scientific publications.

From 1987 to 1990, Prof. Andrea Trucco was three times a finalist for the Philips Awards for European Young Scientists, and ranked third twice. In 1995, he won the Student Paper Competition organized by the 9th International Symposium on Unmanned Untethered Submersible Technology; in 1997, he won the Student Paper Competition organized by the MTS/IEEE Oceans’97 International Conference.

He is a Senior Member of IEEE and a Member of AEIT and IAPR.

Researcher at DITEN, University of Genoa, where he teaches Cyberphysical systems and Entrepreneurship for the Master's Degree in Electronic Engineering. Bellotti graduated with honors in Electronic Engineering from the University of Genoa and received a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the same university. He is in the didactic board of the PhD course Interactive Cognitive Environments of the Erasmus Mundus program. The main research interests are serious games, infomobility systems, human-computer interaction, artificial intelligence and technology-enhanced learning. He has been responsible for the workpackage of requirement, design and implementation of WPs in numerous (20+) European and Italian industrial research projects. He is a member of the editorial board of ACM Computers and Cultural Heritge, of Hindawi Advances in Human-Computer Interaction and of the Int.l Journal of Serious Games, of which he was one of the founders. He is the author of over 170 peer-reviewed scientific articles in international journals and conferences

Raffaele Bolla received the Ph.D. degree in telecommunications from the University of Genoa, Genoa, Italy, in 1994. He is currently a Full Professor with DITEN, University of Genoa, where he is also leading the Telecommunication Networks and Telematics (TNT) Laboratory. He has been a Principal Investigator of many important research projects and contracts with both public institutions and private companies. He is also involved in many standardization activities in ITU-T, ETSI, and IEEE (he is currently the Rapporteur of a Working Item of the ETSI EE-TC). He has co-authored more than 200 scientific publications in international journals and international conference proceedings. His research interests include networking architectures, protocols and techniques for the smart energy grid, mechanisms and techniques for energy consumption reduction in IP networks, advanced platforms for Future Internet nodes (flexible software routers), software-defined networking (SDN) and network functions virtualization (NFV) based architectures, and advanced management of user mobility in packet networks.
